UWI SuperStars take top medals at World University Games in China

UWI Scholarship Athlete Hansle Parchment took gold in the men's 110m Hurdles at the recently concluded World University Games held in China. Parchment ran a personal best of 13.24 seconds to take the victory in his pet event. This is Parchment's first gold medal in an international competition since competing at the collegiate level. Jason Young, a fellow scholarship recipient of the University also took home a medal in the finals of his main event. In a time of 20.59 seconds Young copped the silver in the men's 200m event. We will also like make honourable mention to Jowayne Hibbert, our resident 800m runner, who also competed at the Games but unfortunately did not make it to the finals of his event

The University of the West Indies Mona congratulates Hansle Parchment, Jason Young and Jowayne Hibbert on their sporting achievements and we continue to encourage them to strive for excellence in both their academic and sporting endeavours.
