Antigua/Barbuda Cancer Mortality Study

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimjopen.2014.073
Pages:
88–91
Synopsis:
In this study of cancer mortality in Antigua and Barbuda, gender-specific cancers accounted for approximately half of the cancer deaths. Mortality/incidence ratios greater than 1 suggest that there may be incomplete data capture of the incidence.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the cancer mortality rates in Antigua and Barbuda in an effort to enhance the profile of the country’s cancer burden.

Method: Available data for 2001 to 2005 were analysed to obtain cancer mortality rates.  Analysis was also made of the mortality/incidence ratios.
