Our department focuses on improving the health and welfare of families in particular women and children in the regin. This is done through chinical work as well as academic teaching and research The services offered include general Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Assisted Reproduction (via the Hugh Wynter Institute for Reproductive Healthcare and Endoscopic Surgery (HWI-RHES)), High-Risk Obstetrics, Gynaecology Oncology, and Urogynaecology.

Our goal is to provide students with a balance of intellectual and practical experiences that enable them to serve a variety of societal needs.
There are 10 lecturers and 6 associate lecturers who are based at the University Hospital. Our 28 associate lecturers from our accredited affiliate hospitals across Jamaica provide invaluable support to our department.

The undergraduate programme falls under the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB,BS) degree programme offered by the UWI, Mona. It consists of two 5-10 week rotations through various sections in the department and this is reinforced by outside rotations to our affiliate centres.
Our graduate programme is designed to produce doctors with the skills and knowledge in the discipline at the academic level of Lecturer and the professional level of consultant. Degrees are offered in the following:
