Dr Byfield is a Senior Public Health Executive with over 28 years of experience in leading national and regional health initiatives across the Caribbean. She holds a BA (Hons) in History and Social Science, MA in Communication for Social & Behaviour Change and a PhD in Public Health (UWI, Mona). Her expertise includes health promotion, behaviour change communication, and HIV prevention, with a strong focus on evidence-based strategies and measurable impact.
Dr Byfield has held leadership roles in Jamaica’s Ministry of Health and Wellness as well as the National Family Planning Board where she served as Executive Director between 2018 and 2024. She has led national programmes and has a track record of improving institutional performance and guiding strategic reforms. She is a senior lecturer and mentor in public health with several peer-reviewed publications.
