Our unit offers a very engaging teaching and learning experience to equip students with the professional knowledge and competence to administer care for the recovery or maintenance of oral health. The graduate will be equipped to diagnose and treat oral diseases, interpret x-rays and other tests and perform procedures on the teeth, gum and soft tissue of the mouth. The School of Dentistry has a polyclinic where our students hone their practical skills and cement knowledge gained in the programme. Thus, a wide variety of services are offered to patients including filling, cleaning, dentures and removal of teeth.
We aim to develop dentists who can assess the patient systematically and treat the patient holistically with the goal being to teach and train as an Oral Physician.

The School of Dentistry is poised to develop competent clinically sound graduates who are professional and ethical in their conduct and standards. As we endeavour to work collaboratively to offer excellence in health care nationally and regionally.
The Cadre of staff in the Dentistry programme is diverse and international, creating a well-versed and extensive pool of expertise for our students to gain wisdom and knowledge in this field.

Our undergraduate programme, Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree equips the graduate with the professional knowledge and competence to administer care for the recovery or maintenance of oral health. The programme is designed to encourage students from a diverse range of academic and personal backgrounds to develop the intellectual, technical and personal skills to practice effectively, rationally and compassionately and has 2 stages.
Duration: of 5 years over 15 semesters.
Main focus areas: Foundation, Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Dental Sciences, Dental Adjunct, Advanced Dental Sciences, Clinical Dental Sciences and Electives.
Stage 1: the first being in years 1-2 which covers specified dental content and offer the foundation and basic early exposure to medical and dental patients and the teaching of basic clinical medical and dental examination skills
Stage 2: This stage runs from years 3 to 5 and covers basic and advance dental science as well as practical experience.
