The Faculty of Medical Sciences, Nursing Students received 40 new laptops from the Richard and Diana Stewart Foundation to assist with their academic Journey. The head of the founation, Diana Stewart was present to handover the laptops were she expressed her immense joy in assisting the students seeing this as more than just donation but an investment in their future. She emphasised that the "founation believes that giving is not only about charity but its also about partnership, empowerment and hope". Diana continued by acknowledging that technology has become an indispensible component of patient care ranging from digital heath records to telemedicine. She reminded everyone that "these laptops are like students sometimes they might freeze when you ask too much of them". She highlighted that access to technology is essential for nursing students in their learning, research, and preparation for the various aspects of the profession.
“On behalf of the Stewart’s Automotive Group and the Foundation, it is my honour to officially hand over these laptops to the nursing programme at UWI,” she stated. “May they serve you well, and may you continue to serve with excellence, compassion and pride.”
