Prediction of Normal Ovulation by Sonographic Folliculometry Involving Natural Cycles among Women in Ojo, Southwest Nigeria

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.103
Pages:
134–40
Synopsis:
Accurate prediction of ovulation is important in the management of female infertility. Sonographic observation of complete disappearance of a dominant follicle and reduction in follicular size of surrogate follicles after follicular rupture appeared to be more reliable predictors of imminent ovulation than merely measuring follicular dimensions.

ABSTRACT

Background: Accurate prediction of ovulation is important in the management of female infertility.

Aim: To determine the sonographic sensitivity of reduction in follicular size and disappearance of ovarian follicle as predictors of imminent ovulation.

Observer Variability in Sonographic Measurement of Kidney Sizes among Children in Benin-City, Nigeria

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2012.262
Synopsis:
In this prospective cross-sectional study, ultrasonography was used to repeatedly measure kidney sizes by different observers in order to determine the level of inconsistency within and between replicate measurements of kidney size by a single and different observers. Replicate sonographic measurements by a single observer are more consistent, and therefore, more reliable than replicate measurements by different observers.
ABSTRACT

Aim: To assess the level of inconsistency in replicating sonographic kidney size measurements in a population of healthy Nigerian children.
