Synopsis: 
A prospective cross-sectional study analysed subjects who underwent simple arthroplasty. Pre-operative patient factors that influenced patient-reported outcome scores were identified. Obesity does not result in worse postoperative outcomes. These results were statistically significant.

Surgical Management of Exertional Anterior Compartment Syndrome of the Leg

Synopsis: 
Data from a series of athletes presenting with leg pain were analysed. The diagnoses included exertional anterior compartment syndrome of the leg, medial tibial stress syndrome and stress fracture of the tibia. The diagnosis and surgical management of exertional anterior compartment syndrome are discussed in detail.

ABSTRACT 

Objective: To describe the characteristic presentation of exertional leg pain in athletes and to discuss the diagnostic options and surgical management of exertional anterior compartment syndrome of the leg in this group of patients.

Methods: Data from a series of athletes presenting with exertional leg pain were analysed and categorized according to aetiology.

The incidence of Erb-Duchenne’s Palsy at a teaching hospital in North Trinidad is 0.94/1000 live births. Known associations in this study are shoulder dystocia and fetal macrosomia.
