Synopsis: 
Oral health studies in Nicaragua are sparse. We determined the patterns of treatment needs for dental caries and restorative care index on the permanent dentition of Nicaraguan children. High treatment needs for dental caries and little experience of restorative care was observed. The indices were moderated by socio-economic variables.

Objective: To determine the treatment needs for dental caries and the restorative care index on permanent dentition of Nicaraguan children.

Oral health studies on adolescents are sparse. We characterized the patterns of health services utilization and unmet needs for tooth decay. Large unmet treatment needs, relatively low experience of restorative treatment, and few tooth extractions were moderated by socio-economic variables.
ABSTRACT
 
Objective: To determine the Treatment Needs Index (TNI) for dental caries, the restorative Care Index (CI), and to introduce a Tooth Extractions Index (TEI) to estimate past and current treatment needs among Mexican adolescents.
