Synopsis:
A 12-year bibliometric analysis of publication trends in the West Indian Medical Journal considers the number and types of articles published, geographic area of research work, extent of collaboration based on co-authorship, medical specialties of research and institutional affiliation of the corresponding author. An ontology has been populated by these data to support future mathematical modelling and simulation.

ABSTRACT

Methods: Individual print issues of the West Indian Medical Journal (WIMJ) from 2001 to 2012 were perused. An ontology was populated with the results in accordance with the OWL DL format.
