Chelsea Frank is a recent graduate of the Department of Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology at The UWI, Mona, having successfully completed her Master of Philosophy in Zoology which was awarded in October 2024. Since her high school years, Chelsea has had an inquisitive mind leading to her interest in research and discovering new things. As such, after completing her high school education in Guyana, she moved to Jamaica to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Experimental Biology. The exposure to a wide range of laboratory and research courses, particularly those pertaining to animal biology, led her to pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Zoology.
Under the supervision of her co-supervisors, Dr. Sheena Francis and Professor Rupika Delgoda, Chelsea completed her thesis titled “Exploration of the Use of Extracts of Piper amalago var amalago in Control of resistant KSA Aedes aegypti mosquitoes”. Having returned to Guyana, post completion of her Master of Philosophy, she looks forward to using the knowledge and skills gained at The UWI to improve vector control and public health entomology measures in her home country.
