Congratulations Professor Emerita Yvette Jackson

FST extends congratulations to Professor Jackson who was conferred with the title Professor Emerita at recently held University meetings. Professor Jackson served the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty and the University in a number of roles, including Sub-Dean for Undergraduate Studies (FST) (2001-2005), Mona Strategic Transformation Team (2005-2007), Campus Coordinator for Graduate Studies & Research (Mona) (2007-2012), and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Graduate Studies & Research (2012-2015).  She developed and maintained a vibrant research programme focussing on Organic Synthetic Chemistry, which attracted numerous grants, lead to the preparation of a large number of known and novel compounds with potential and realised biological activity, resulted in numerous publications and conference presentations, and saw fifteen students being awarded graduate degrees.  She has also been recognised for her accomplishments in research, receiving the Principal's Award for Best Publication (2003 and 2009) and the Principal's Award for Most Outstanding Research Activity (2005). She was also appointed Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London, UK.
