International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) 2015

Congratulations to Research Fellow at the Natural Products Institute, Dr. Sheena Francis who presented work at the 20th North American meeting of the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) at Orlando, Florida this week has been placed FIRST in the poster competition. Out of 289 posters, 12 finalists were selected, based on scientific significance of the work, soundness of the methodology chosen, the accuracy of the conclusions and clarity of the presentation.

Following oral defenses of the presented posters, the work of the NPI was adjudicated first place in the post-doctoral category. The work entitled, "Per os treatment of rats with apocynin, a natural organic compound has potent inhibitory effects on Arylamine N-acetyltransferase activity in liver" has Dr. Sheena Francis, Dr. Nicola Laurieri, Dr. Chikwemba Nwokocha and Dr. Rupika Delgoda as authors, and is a collaboration between NPI and Basic Medical Sciences (UWI) and Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford, U.K.
