Daynia Pinnock Lawrence is a radiation chemist at the Molecular Imaging Institute, Jamaica where she manufactures and tests radioactive pharmaceuticals used to detect and stage cancer. She is also certified in Quality Assurance and Management where she implemented and monitors the quality management systems of the company.
She was born in the community of Llandilo, Westmoreland where she attended the Manning’s School. After removing her mind-block against the science subjects, she realized her passion for chemistry.
Daynia graduated the University of the West Indies, Mona campus in 2016 with a BSc. Chemistry and Management. She thoroughly enjoyed her university experience especially while living on Rex Nettleford Hall. She created meaningful friendships, joined the executive body and she participated in dancing, football and cricket. Daynia currently tries to balance her career as a chemist with her roles as a mother of 2, wife and author of the children's book - The Chemistry Crew and The Missing River. She also takes pride in being the Regional Director and Career Mentor for the mentorship organization - Minds of Jamaica.
