Dr. Eric Garraway appointed Honorary Research Fellow

The Faculty of Science and Technology extends congratulations to Dr. Eric Garraway (Department of Life Sciences) who was appointed Honorary Research Fellow, effective August 1, 2023. Dr. Garraway is an entomologist whose research has focused on the conservation of the endangered giant swallowtail butterfly, Papilio homerus, as well as the Caribbean Manatee Trichechus manatus. He has conducted studies on the taxonomy and biodiversity of Jamaica’s insect population and carried out morphological studies of the millipede. Pest ecology projects include the control of the yam weevil and the ecology of the banana scarring moth Pyroderces releyi, the brown citrus aphid Toxoptera citricidus and the citrus leaf miner Phyllocnistis citrella. In November 2022, Dr. Garraway was awarded the Silver Musgrave Medal for his contribution to Science. The Faculty wishes Dr. Garraway all the best with his new portfolio.
