The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), The University of the West Indies, Mona, extends sincere appreciation to the participants in the 2026 UWI–Bethel Youth Summer Employment Programme (BYSEP), who contributed their time, energy and talents to supporting activities across the Faculty and wider Mona Campus from July 5–31, 2026.
The participants were Julissa Reid, Danielle Chambers, Ashantie Brooks, Rodane Bogle, Abigail Lewis, Tevin Brown, Amaris Wishart, Zainina Rhoden, Fantasia Fordon and Amelia Taylor. During the programme, they gained practical workplace experience while assisting several areas, including FST, the OSSD and the UWI Health Centre.
Initiatives such as BYSEP provide young people with valuable opportunities to develop essential skills in communication, teamwork, time management and professionalism. Through exposure to different working environments and responsibilities, participants are better equipped to make informed career choices and navigate their transition into the professional world.
The programme also highlights the importance of meaningful partnerships between educational institutions, community organisations and young people. These collaborations strengthen the connection between the University and the communities it serves while creating pathways for youth development, mentorship and professional growth.
FST thanks the 2026 BYSEP participants for their service and positive contributions. As these emerging professionals continue their educational and career journeys, the Faculty wishes them every success in their future endeavours.
