On February 5, 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The UWI Mona welcomed Dr. Kyle Gustafson, Science Director at the Office of Naval Research in Brazil, for a productive visit focused on collaboration, innovation, and advancing research and education in the Caribbean.
Dr. Gustafson engaged with the FST team to explore potential research partnerships and toured several of the Faculty’s cutting-edge teaching and research facilities, including the crXstal Lab, Radioecological Lab, Insectary, ICENS, and the Earthquake Unit. He also delivered an insightful presentation on funding opportunities, which was well received by graduate students eager to explore new research prospects.
His visit to The UWI followed a high-level discussion on February 4, 2025, where Prof. Tannecia Stephenson, Dr. Andre Coy, and Dr. Curtis Busby-Earle joined Dr. Gustafson and his team for strategic talks with colleagues from the Caribbean Maritime Academy. This engagement reinforced the importance of regional collaboration in advancing STEM education and research.
Dr. Gustafson’s visit signals exciting opportunities for scientific collaboration and growth, further strengthening FST’s commitment to expanding research frontiers and fostering international partnerships.
