FST Female Academics Among 70+ Outstanding UWI Women

At a reception held on Feb 14, 2019 in celebration of the 70th Anniversary, The UWI led by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies Regional Coordinating Office (IGDSRCO) recognized the invaluable contributions that of 70+ Outstanding UWI Women. The impetus to do so grew out of the desire, as well as a sense of responsibility, to showcase the exceptional women that The UWI has produced, in diverse fields, on all of its Campuses. One individual has been selected to represent each class from 1948 to the present, with some years being doubly represented. FST salutes all the 70+ outstanding women and in particular three of our current academics who were honoured on the occasion. We salute Prof. Mona Webber (1993), Prof. Marcia Roye (1996) and Dr. Sylvia Mitchell (2001). We also salute other Mona FST distinguished graduates who were honoured including Dr. Simone Badal-McCreath, Prof. Elsa Leo-Rhynie and Dr. Joy Spence. FST is proud of all of you!
