"Two FST teams took first and second place at the recently concluded Vincent HoSang UWI Venture Competition. At a February 2019 ceremony, the JA BioPlastics team from the Biotechnology Centre consisting of Jordon Freeman and Samantha Williams were announced as first place winners. Their business idea was a Plastics company which offers a natural, alternative form of plastic that is compostable, degradable in the environment including water bodies, can be consumed by animals and will not contribute to plastic pollution”. The PreeLabs Ltd. Team from the Physics Department consisting of Yekini Wallen-Bryan, Kriston Kong and Matthew Stone, placed second with their idea WatchDawg - a farm surveillance system. The PreeLabs team also won the most commercially ready idea and will go on to represent UWI at the National Business Model Competition. If successful PreeLabs will participate in the International Business Model Competition."
