FST Lecturer on Jamaican Delegation to Solar Conference

Dr. Randy Koon Koon, lecturer in energy in the Department of Physics is amongst the Jamaican delegation of energy experts and professionals who attended Solar Power International, (SPI), the largest renewable energy trade show and conference in North America, in Salt Lake City, Utah from September 23-26.  The Jamaican delegation comprised both public and private sector energy experts and including Minister of Science, Energy, and Technology, The Honorable Fayval Williams. The goal of the trip was to introduce Jamaican companies and government institutions to the myriad of innovative and affordable renewable energy solutions available in the United States to meet Jamaica’s current and future energy needs. During the four-day trade show, Jamaican representatives gained exposure to the latest trends in electric vehicle charging stations, energy efficiency, energy storage, micro-grids, and other clean energy solutions. Prior to their departure, the delegation was hosted by the US Ambassador to Jamaica, Ambassador Don Tapia.
