FST congratulates Mr. Jordon Freeman (Graduate Student, Biotechnology Centre) on being the first-place winner in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) competition at the finals held on May 20, 2021. The competition was hosted by The UWI Mona Library in collaboration with the Office of Graduate Studies and Research, and is a celebration and recognition of excellence in research within The UWI community. The competition entailed graduate students verbally presenting their thesis in a pre-recorded three minutes video from a single static slide using appropriate layman language. The Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) is an academic competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), in 2008 for Australian research students. Since its inception, the 3MT concept has grown exponentially as a multi-national event held in over 900 universities across more than 85 countries worldwide. Groups include South-East Asia and later North-East Asia as the Asia-Pacific 3MT competition, the U21 network, and the Vitae UK.
