In January 2023, Deron Maitland (Graduate student, Department of Physics) embarked on a journey to the University of Bergen (UiB), Norway as an Erasmus + International Credit Mobility student. Mr. Maitland has enrolled in the Master's level course "Data Analysis in Earth Sciences" at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UiB. He will also be conducting research on Caribbean Sea level change at the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research (BCCR), UiB, Norway. This student exchange opportunity was made possible by the MOU between the UWI and UiB.
In November 2021, Deron participated in the One Ocean Expedition’s research voyage, organised by the University of Bergen, and recognised as part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. The floating academy brought together crews of students, teaching and research faculty, representatives of scientific and development institutions, for high-level meetings and public education events, including a five-day, port visit in Jamaica (November 13-17, 2021).
