Field of Study: Bio-Organic and Natural Products Chemistry
Hailing from the Parish of Hanover, Marc, while mostly reserved, enjoys reading and learning new things. He is a recipient of the NCB tertiary Education Scholarship, the Morris-Watkins Scholarship, Chemistry Departmental Awards and a two-time recipient of the UWI Postgraduate Scholarship. He is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry and is supervised by former Dean of Science and Technology, Professor Paul Reese.
Marc is a student leader, as he has served as a Resident Advisor on both the Irvine and George Alleyne Halls of residence on the University of the West Indies Mona Campus. He was also the former President of the Chemistry Association of Postgraduate Student (C.A.P.S) and Lab Manager for the Organic Research Lab.
Throughout his graduate tenure Marc has represented the UWI both locally, at multiple stagings of The Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (Mona Symposium) and internationally at the 73rd staging of The Pacifichem conference held in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2015. He also won best Poster presentation in 2016 at the Mona Symposium.
Marc has a keen interest in the areas of personal development, psychology and entrepreneurship. He’s currently creating a personal blog to review all books that have positively influenced his mindset and life overall, up to this point. In addition to his academic accolades, he is a part-time tailor and operates a lucrative Clothing Alteration and Sewing repairs business.
