Dr. Olivene Burke from the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) has just been named as one of the four awardees for the 2020 Anthony N. Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence. Dr. Burke was named as the Laureate for Public and Civic Contributions for the great work she is doing with the Mona Social Services (MSS) which under her outstanding leadership is transforming the lives and livelihoods of over 40,000 residents in sixteen Jamaican inner-city communities – including August Town in St Andrew and Salt Spring in Montego Bay. The Faculty also recognizes with pride our FST colleague Dr. Shirin Haque from our sister campus St. Augustine. Dr. Haque is a Senior lecturer and former Hod of the Department of Physics, FST, St. Augustine, and a former Deputy Dean of FST (St. Augustine). She is the region's foremost researcher in Astronomy and the 2020 Laureate for Science and Technology. The two other awardees for 2020 are Jallim Eudovic (St Lucia) for Arts & Letters and Mr Andrew Mendes (Guyana) in Entrepreneurship. The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held in 2020.
