Dr. Susan Otuokon has been appointed as the Strategic Development Officer for the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, effective August 2, 2024. Dr. Otuokon brings over thirty years of experience in protected area planning and management, including community participation, ecotourism, and communications. She has served as Executive Director for three non-governmental organizations, lectured at The University of the West Indies, and worked as a consultant. Dr. Otuokon earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Management in 2010 from The University of the West Indies and holds an M.Sc. in Aquatic Resources Management from the University of London. In 2019, she was awarded the Musgrave Medal (Bronze) by the Institute of Jamaica for her work, particularly in the inscription of the Blue and John Crow Mountains as a World Heritage Site.
With her wealth of knowledge and experience, she will be a driving force behind FST's strategic goals. Congratulations, Dr. Otuokon, on this exciting new chapter! The Faculty wishes her all the best and looks forward to her contributions!
