Dr. Kevon Rhiney (alum, Department of Geography and Geology), Associate Professor at Rutgers University, is recognized as a 2024-2025 American Association of Geographers (AAG) Fellow for his outstanding contributions to geography.
Dr. Rhiney's research expertise includes small-island agrarian political ecology, disaster studies, and global environmental change. He has served as editor, co-founder, and chair of various geography organizations and has been sought by influential organizations such as the IPCC and UN FAO for his policy expertise. He is committed to advancing geographic education, particularly in the Caribbean region, and has been instrumental in mentoring international and underrepresented students.
The AAG Fellows is a recognition and service program that applauds geographers who have made significant contributions to advancing geography.
