The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Mona, continues to strengthen its teaching and research capabilities through strategic investments in laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the student learning experience, four large display monitors were recently installed in the W.B. Introductory Chemistry Laboratory. The acquisition was made possible through the fundraising initiatives of the Department’s Alumni Engagement Committee, led by Dr. Mark Lawrence and supported by the guidance of Dr. Novelette Sadler-McKnight.
The Department also acknowledges the acquisition of several essential pieces of laboratory equipment through the Food and Agro-processing Technology (FAPT) programme, facilitated by Dr. Ian Thompson. The new equipment includes an autoclave, a colorimeter, and a dual temperature and humidity chamber.
These additions will support both teaching and research activities across the department.
