Prof. Simon Mitchell (Dept. of Geography and Geology) recently gave an invited talk at the Yorkshire Geological Society on the "Cretaceous geology of Jamaica". The Yorkshire Geological Society was founded in 1837 and was the first geological society in the North of England.
