The Faculty extends congratulation to Professor Mona Webber (Director, Centre for Marine Sciences) who was appointed Chair of the National Fisheries Advisory Council (effective September 20, 2022) for three years. The Council is established under The Fisheries Act, 2018 and functions primarily to advise the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries on:

• Policies in relation to all matters relating to fisheries, aquaculture and any related activity.
• The need for any amendment to The Fisheries Act, 2018 or its regulations
• Fishery management plans, aquaculture management plans and on review of those plans
• Any other matter to which consultation of the Council is required under The Fisheries Act, 2018 or which may be referred to the Council by the Minister.
