Teacher’s Day Highlights 2026 – Celebrating Legacy and Service | Professor Michael Taylor

In observance of Teacher’s Day on May 6, 2026, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The University of the West Indies, Mona, celebrated the dedication, commitment and passion of its teaching staff whose work continues to shape lives and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Faculty recognised the invaluable role lecturers and educators play in supporting student growth through their hard work, patience, guidance and unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Their contributions continue to strengthen the academic community while making a lasting impact on students and the wider society.

This year’s observance also served as a special opportunity to honour Professor Michael Taylor as he demits office as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology. Throughout his tenure, Professor Taylor provided outstanding leadership and service to the Faculty, helping to advance teaching, research and regional engagement while championing excellence across the sciences.

Beyond his administrative leadership, Professor Taylor has remained a highly respected educator, mentor and advocate for climate science throughout the Caribbean. His dedication to student development, academic growth and regional collaboration has significantly influenced the Faculty and strengthened its impact both locally and internationally.

The Faculty of Science and Technology extends sincere gratitude to Professor Taylor for his invaluable leadership, service and lasting contribution to the development of students, staff and society, and proudly celebrates his achievements on Teacher’s Day 2026.
