The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology at The University of the West Indies, Mona, under the leadership of Head of Department Dr. Donna Minott-Kates with support for Dr. Ian Thompson, has officially joined the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) as an Associate Member in the category of Professional Services. This new affiliation marks a strategic move to deepen the Department’s engagement with Jamaica’s manufacturing and export sectors through education, research, and innovation.

Participation in Expo Jamaica 2025
As part of its new membership, the Department of Chemistry will participate in Expo Jamaica 2025, hosted by the JMEA from April 4–6, 2025. The Department will host guests at its booth, where it will present an overview of its academic programmes and showcase its research and technical services. A highlight of the booth will be the MSc in Food and Agro-Processing Technology (FAPT) programme. The FAPT initiative will feature Innovative research projects, Live technical demonstrations, and information on the Department’s consultancy and analytical services.
