The innovative internship collaboration between The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, and NCB’s Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Unit continues to be a hotspot for incubating local tech talent. Three exceptional participants, Taffeya Dunkley, Bradley Thompson, and Shaun Jennings, have transitioned into prestigious full-time tech roles at NCB.
During his 2021 internship, Shaun Jennings transformed raw data into valuable insights for NCB’s payments business, developing interactive dashboards and bridging data gaps for small- and medium-size businesses (MSMEs).
Bradley Thompson, 29, immersed himself in various digital aspects during his internship, from UI/UX design to data analysis. He developed effective communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.
The EIM internship program, introduced in 2018, aims to provide job opportunities for future data analysts and scientists while enhancing their skills to a global standard. It includes a year-long curriculum with intensive training in soft skills, business understanding, problem-framing, and technical skills. Interns then rotate across the organization for nine months, gaining knowledge and confidence. Based on performance, they are offered full-time contracts.
Taffeya Dunkley, another successful program participant, highlights that gender is no barrier to excelling in the tech world.
In addition to the EIM Internship Program, NCB’s summer internship welcomed 58 participants in 2023, working in various areas of the organization from July to September 1, 2023.
