UWI(FST)/Lasco's solar pilot sets pace for energy resilience

The UWI/LASCO Solar Pilot Project is a major accomplishment in Jamaica's journey towards energy independence. This project involved installing a 500 kW PV+ system at LASCO's facility and a 10 kW solar hybrid system at the Central Village Multi-Purpose Centre. This initiative is a collaboration between the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of the West Indies Mona (The UWI Mona), LASCO Distributors, USAID and the Cadmus-led Jamaica Energy Resilience Alliance (JERA). The project is expected to deliver substantial cost savings while advancing Jamaica's renewable energy goals. It will serve as a living laboratory for research and training purposes at UWI and provide resilient power to the Central Village Multi-Purpose Centre.
