Professor Emeritus

Carl C. Campbell is Emeritus of History at the Univeristy of the West Indies. He is a foundation member of the University's Department of History, St. Agustine campus, Trinidad and Tobago, where he taught between 1963 and 1972, before joining the Department at Mona where he has taught for nearly forty years.

Professor Campbell's major publications include Colony and Nation: A short History of Education in Trinidad and Tobago: Cedulants and Capitulants: The Politics of the Coloured Opposition in the Slave Society of Trinidad; and The young Colonials: A Social History of Education in Trinidad and Tobago 1834-1939: Endless Education: Main Currents in the Education System of Modern Trinidad and Tobago, 1939-1986, along with several articles on the social history of 19th and 20th century Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
