The Social Sciences Faculty Office is seeking to appoint an Administrative Officer to provide a broad range of administrative and student-focused services in support of The UWI’s core values of student-centeredness and excellence. This includes the development and implementation of student success and experience initiatives, as well as the delivery of efficient operational and administrative support in alignment with the Faculty’s vision of exceeding stakeholders’ expectations.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Develop and implement programmes, initiatives, and intervention strategies to promote student success, enhance the student experience, and improve retention and academic progression.
Strengthen support for and build awareness of the Faculty’s academic advising programme through the coordination of targeted staff sensitization and student outreach initiatives.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of student success initiatives and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Coordinate the degree declaration process by managing submissions, verifying student eligibility, liaising with relevant departments, attending meeting of examiners, and preparing documentation for the relevant Board.
Manage the preparation, publication and quality control standard of the Faculty’s Undergraduate Student Handbook.
Oversee the timetabling process ensuring accuracy and the efficient allocation of teaching spaces and related resources.
Assist with quality assurance, audits and accreditation exercises.
Provide administrative and secretarial support for meetings, events, initiatives and activities, where appropriate.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
A Master’s degree in any Social Sciences discipline, with preference for specialisation in Management, Human Resource Development, or Psychology.
Experience in project management, programme development, and monitoring and evaluation.
Demonstrated administrative experience within an academic institution.
Experience in using student-related UWI enterprise systems software.
Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment.
