The Department of Computing is seeking to appoint an Instructor in Computing with a strong commitment to teaching and student development. The successful applicant will be directly responsible for the teaching and assessment of students’ foundational and advanced skills in Computing, including programming, algorithms, data structures, and software development in undergraduate programmes.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.
Develop and update course materials and syllabi.
Assess and grade student assignments, exams, and projects.
Keep excellent records of student progress, performance, and related matters;
Provide academic support and advising to students.
Maintain office hours for student consultations.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
Provide consistent guidance to students in developing their technical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse learning styles and cultural differences in the execution of responsibilities.
Display proficiency in integrating digital tools and platforms to enhance students' learning experiences and guide students in effectively utilising these technologies for academic and professional growth.
Engage in professional development to enhance teaching skills.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Master's degree in a computing-related field.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and students.
Strong programming and technical skills.
Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the secondary or tertiary level and a commitment to student success.
Certificate in University Teaching or teaching diploma.
Experience in using educational technology and innovative teaching methods.
Administrative experience within an academic institution.
