The successful candidate will be required to:
• Engage in innovative student-centered pedagogy and assessment across face-to-face, simulation, clinical, and virtual learning environments, ensuring effective integration of theory and practice.
• Coordinate and deliver undergraduate and/or graduate courses across multiple campuses or clinical sites;
• Supervise and mentor students in clinical, laboratory, and academic settings, providing guidance on professional conduct, clinical competence, and academic development.
• Conduct research and scholarly activities addressing complex health, education, or nursing practice issues, applying appropriate methodologies and contributing to publications, presentations, or other scholarly outputs.
• Develop new courses and programmes in response to evolving industry needs and developments in higher education.
• Participate in the planning, development, and periodic review of undergraduate and graduate curricula, ensuring alignment with professional standards, accreditation requirements, and emerging trends in nursing and healthcare.
• Engage with healthcare institutions, regulatory bodies, professional organizations, and community partners to strengthen teaching, research collaborations, and clinical education opportunities.
• Participate actively in University, Faculty, and Departmental committees and boards, contributing to governance, programme development, and institutional initiatives.
• Provide leadership and professional service in support of the strategic goals of the School of Nursing and the wider University.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• A doctoral degree (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice in relevant areas of nursing, midwifery, and healthcare
• Demonstrated ability to deliver content across multiple areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a track record of conducting cutting-edge research that has resulted in publications in high impact scientific journals.
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience teaching related courses at the University level.
• Be registered and licensed by the Nursing Council of Jamaica.
• Experience in academic administration, committee work, and service to the university or academic community.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with other faculty members and contributing to the development of the School and the institution.
• Coordinate graduate and undergraduate student programmes, and high-impact research.
