Mr. Kevarney K.R. is the Research Assistant to the Head of the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), Mona Campus Unit. Kevarney is currently a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Government at The UWI, Mona, where he is completing the Master of Science in Government graduate program; his specialization is in Comparative Politics and Political Theory. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Political Science and minor in International Relations. Kevarney is also a multi-disciplinary visual artist, art historian and curator. His artistic practice consists of mixed media paintings, collage, murals, instillations, film and new media work which directly engage with the historico-political narratives of Black existence within the postcolonial Caribbean context. Kevarney's artistic and research practices critically engage with, and contest, the prevailing western narratives of philosophy, politics, history and art while putting the Black experience at the nexus. Kevarney also provides curatorial assistance to The Olympia Gallery, the largest private gallery in Jamaica. His artwork has recently been exhibited in The National Gallery of Jamaica in “The Face of Us'' exhibition between December 2023 and March 2024.
