Institute of Caribbean Studies Course Offerings
The Institute of Caribbean Studies invites second and third year students to register for the following courses in semester II of the 2006-2007 academic year: Caribbean Films and Their Fictions (AR25F), Deconstructing the Culture of Sport (AR25S), African Religious Retentions in the Caribbean (AR25X), Discourses in Cultural Studies (AR35A) and Rastafari in the Global Context (AR35R).

Long Service Awards Dinner
The annual Long Service Awards Dinner will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at the Mona Visitor’s Lodge and Conference Centre at 5:00 p.m. This event is being held to honour academic, senior administrative, and administrative technical services staff of the University of the West Indies who have served the institution for fifteen, twenty-one, thirty and forty years.

Rex Nettleford Fellowship in Cultural Studies, 2007
Applications are invited for the Rex Nettleford Fellowship in Cultural Studies for 2007. The Fellowship was established by the Rhodes Scholarships in the Caribbean in 2004 and is in honour of the outstanding contribution of Professor the Honourable, Rex Nettleford O.M. to higher education and to cultural life in the Caribbean. The prize is awarded annually.
UWI Mona Library Offers Fines Amnesty on Long Overdue Items
In preparation for the switch to the New Integrated Library System, ALEPH, the UWI Mona Library will be offering a fine amnesty on long overdue items. This amnesty will run during the period December 4 – 30, 2006 and no fines will be charged for books which were due before December 4 upon return. Users are encouraged to use this opportunity to return long overdue items.
The amnesty will not be applied to fines already calculated and outstanding or to items borrowed after December 4 and subsequently returned overdue.
UWI School of Continuing Studies Course Offerings
The University of the West Indies, School of Continuing Studies – Jamaica Eastern (Camp Road) is inviting applications for its Easter Term 2007 which begins on January 8. Registration runs from November 27 to December 8 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

"Jazz in the Round”
The School of Music at The Edna Manley College presents " JAZZ IN THE ROUND 2K6 " , a end of first semester concert on Friday December 8th at 7:30 p.m. in the Round at the School of Music. The featured performers will be the second year Certificate and Diploma JAZZ IMPROVISATION STUDENTS of guitarist and lecturer Maurice Gordon.
The public is being invited to come out and enjoy some good “food for the ear” and provide a donation which will be used towards the purchasing of equipment and books for the Jazz department.
Annual Carol Service
The Annual Carol Service (Festival of the Nine Lessons and Carols) for the Mona Campus will be held in the University Chapel on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by Reverend Philip Robinson and Reverend Trevor Edwards will deliver the sermon.
Application for Higher Degrees Opens
Applications are now invited for suitably qualified persons who wish to pursue higher degree programmes commencing in September 2007. The deadline for the receipt of completed application forms is January 31, 2007. Final year students are advised to apply for entry to the programme of their choice by this deadline.
