The 2019 staging of Jamaica’s Green Expo was held at the National Arena from June 7-9 and FST was there. Green Expo is a once-a-year environmental exposition aimed at increasing the awareness, knowledge and implementation of environmentally sustainable practices by the Jamaican public. At this year’s staging The UWI booth showcased research being done in the Departments of Chemistry and Computing on biodiesel production from waste vegetable oil and the creation of SMART Cities respectively. The UWI presence was further enhanced by a second booth showcasing the Pilot Programme on Climate Resilience (PPCR). This regional climate programme is managed by the UWI.
