The Jamaican Mathematical Olympiad (JMO), organised annually by the Department of Mathematics at UWI Mona, launched its 2025 cycle on November 25. The competition engages more than 3,300 students each year across its Junior (Grades 4–6) and Senior (Grades 7–11) divisions.
Qualifying papers are distributed to schools island-wide, with later rounds and finals hosted on the UWI Mona campus. The Olympiad continues to serve as one of Jamaica’s largest academic competitions, identifying young mathematical talent, strengthening early numeracy skills, and encouraging STEM development nationwide.
Through multiple rounds of problem-solving challenges, students from both traditional and non-traditional schools gain opportunities to showcase analytical skills and earn national recognition. Supporting partners and UWI Mona’s outreach initiatives further help broaden access, ensuring the Olympiad remains a key platform for nurturing Jamaica’s next generation of mathematicians and innovators.
Deadline for submissions: Friday, December 19, 2025
