Graduation Photographs - 2003

The Public Relations Office wishes to inform graduates who took photographs on graduation night, that they may be collected from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays from the Public Relations Office, Gibraltar Hall Road, Mona Campus.

IDU Workshop

The Instructional Development Unit (IDU), The University of the West Indies, Mona and Professor Brian Meeks, Department of Government, Mona will host a workshop on “Maximizing Conference Participation” on Thursday, November 27 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the IDU Conference Room. Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts

On Thursday, November 27 the University Dance Society will be performing at the Lunch Hour Concert at 1:00 p.m. in the Theatre at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts.
Also Award winners from Tallawah will appear on the last lunch hour concert for the semester on December 4 at 1:00 p.m. Admission is free.

School of Education Biennial Conference Call for Papers

The School of Education, Faculty of Humanities and Education, UWI, Mona will host its Biennial Conference from April 15-17, 2004 at the Rennaissance Jamaica Grande, Ocho Rios. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Achievements in Caribbean Education: Transformation Diversity and Collaboration.

Support Group for Graduate Students

The Counselling Service on the UWI, Mona Campus is organising a support group for Graduate Students working on their dissertations. The group is intended to provide a supportive environment allowing students to discuss the challenges they are facing, share coping tips, learn about UWI resources, and thereby learn key skills for surviving the process. An initial session will take place on Thursday, November 27 in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), Faculty of Humanities and Education at 2.00 p.m.

UTC Symposium

The United Theological College (UTC) of the West Indies, T33N Class – “Women, Religion and Liberation” will host its 3rd Symposium on “Men at Risk! Women at Risk?” on Thursday, November 27 at the College at 6:00 p.m. Panellists will be Professor Barry Chevannes and Mrs. Hermoine McKenzie.

Young Economists Association

The Young Economists Association at UWI Mona will host a presentation by Minister of Education, Youth and Culture, the Hon. Maxine Henry-Wilson on Friday, November 28 at 2:30 p.m. The venue is the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Social Sciences. The Minister will speak on the topic, “The Government’s Decision to Reduce Funding to Tertiary Institutions.” Specially invited guests at the meeting will be members of the media, as well as representatives from other tertiary level institutions. Members of the University community and the public are invited to attend.

International GIS Day

The Department of Geography and Geology in collaboration with Innovison; Land Information Council of Jamaica; Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in School Programme, Ministry of Land and Environment will host GIS Day on Wednesday, November 19 at the Old Library, UWI. This is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with different applications of GIS in Jamaica and learn about how GIS is used by various disciplines, ministries, agencies, individuals and fields of research. Also selected GG33F students’ projects will be on display.
