Eligibility: 

The award is available to Caribbean Nationals who are: 

  • registered in a non-UGC fund (self financing) programme in the Faculty of Medical Sciences;
  • pursuing the MBBS degree; 
  • entering at least year two of the degree programme. 
Criteria: 

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic achievement (at least a GPA of 3.0);
  • demonstrable financial need; 
  • involvement in community and voluntary service.
Method of Selection: 

Selection will be made by a committee comprised of a member of the Massiah family, the Director of Alumni Relations – IAD, 2 members of the UWIMAA Toronto Chapter and the Scholarship Officer in the Institutional Advancement Division (IAD).Selection will be based on the criteria above.

Special Requirements: 

Email the following information/documents:

  1. Your full name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, faculty, hall
  2. A one page statement on the applicant’s educational and professional goals
  3. A paragraph indicating any financial needs
  4. A certified copy of applicant’s birth certificate
  5. Two (2) letters of recommendation (one character and the other academic)
  6. UWI transcript that indicates the student is in good standing.
