What are the eligibility requirements for an additional course, i.e., maximum credit exceeded

A full time student  is usually expected to register for a maximum of thirty (30) credits in any one academic year while a part-time student is eligible for a maximum load of 6 courses or eighteen (18) credits for an academic year.

 

However, the following students may be eligible for an additonal course or three (3) additional credits:

  • Finalising students, i.e., students with fewer than 13 courses to complete their programme 
  • Students pursuing Social Work (Special)
  • Part-time students who have a degree GPA of at least 3.3 after 3 semesters (i.e., after obtaining 27 credits)*
  • Full-time students who have a degree GPA of at least 3.3 after 3 semesters (i.e., after obtaining 45 credits)*
  • Part-time students who have satisfied the requirements for full-time matriculation*
  • Full-time students who pursued 4 courses instead of 5 in the preceding semester
  • Part-time students who pursued 2 courses instead of 3 in the preceding semester

*Students must not have failed a course in the semester preceding the request for an extra course.
