Politics, Governance and Corruption

Professor Lloyd Waller from the Department of Government, specializes in democratic governance as well as electronic governance. He continues to conduct research in the local, regional, and international spheres, as well as publish numerous books, scientific research papers, technical reports and journal articles on areas such as digital transformation, ICT for development, electronic governance, and innovations in governance.

Professor Eris Schoburgh from the Department of Government, specializes subnational governance. Her research has focused on local governance, including areas such as the developmental of local government, the exploration of the role and impact of informal institutions on governance, institutional imperatives of local economic governance, challenges in institutionalizing democratic governance as well as managing development in local government and informality.

Dr Lisa Vasciannie from the Department of Government is an electoral expert whose research interests include International Election Observation, Jamaican Foreign Policy, and Governance in Commonwealth Caribbean Countries, as well as the Role of Inter-Governmental Organisations in Small States. Dr Vasciannie has done extensive research on international election observation in the Commonwealth Caribbean and within the Organization of American States. Dr. Vasciannie is currently the Faculty Advisor for The UWI Model United Nations Club.

Current work in progress from Dr Samuel Braithwaite from the Department of Economics focuses on Decentralisation, Ethnic Fractionalisation and the Resource Curse: The Case of Guyana.
