The University of the West Indies won today’s match against Clarendon Cricket Association in the Junior Cup competition. UWI won by 6 wickets when they made 180-4 after their rivals made 179 all out. UWI top scorer was Oshane Wright, who made 66 runs off 43 balls. The captain Amanjah Morris helped his team with 44 runs off 30 balls. The UWI captain thought the game was well played. “It was a good game. The pitch was not as suitable [but] both teams applied themselves. The pitch was better for bowling,[ however] both teams batted well. Overall it was a good game,” said Amanjah Morris, captain of the UWI team. Clarendon CA top scorer was Jason Wedderburn who made 60 runs off 43 balls. The Clarendon CA coach thought his team could have done better. “I am disappointed [with the game] because I expected more from the school boys,” said Ishmael Wright, manager of the Clarendon based team. “The senior guys [in the team] put out their all but there is no support from the younger guys. ” He said they need to work on fielding and batting some more. He believes the team can go a far way in the competition because it is just the first round of the competition and they have played three games to date and lost only one. Akim Frazer from UWI took five wickets to help secure his teams victory. UWI beat Clarendon Cricket Association in their third match of the Junior Cup competition.
