The University of the West Indies faced off against Clarendon Cricket Club today March 19th , in the first of a two day match at the UWI, Mona Bowl. UWI, who won the toss and decided to bat first made 303 runs off 129 overs. Javaughn Buchanan made 118 runs off 193 balls. Chrishna made 76 runs not out. His partnership with Chrishna Graham came to 169 runs. After the University reached their 300 mark they decided to “declare”. “The game started slow, but I am glad for the 118 runs made by Javaughn and the 76 runs made by Chrishna,” said Garielle Harriott, the manager of the UWI team. “[But] I believe they could have done a lot better.” Clarendon College made 41 runs off 12 overs. “The team played well today based on the conditions,” captain of the Clarendon team, Krishmar Santokie said. “The bowlers played with discipline, and they are batting well. I hope we reach the 300 mark so that we can take first innings and go home.” From the UWI team, Nicholas was out for naught, Sodique Henry was out for 22 runs, Oshane Walters was out for 37 runs and Javaughn Buchanan was out for 118 runs. UWI declared after they made 303 runs for 4 wickets.
