Pelicans Open Track and Field Season at the UWI/Usain Bolt Track

The UWI/Usain Bolt Track at the Mona Bowl

The UWI Mona Pelicans opened their Intercollegiate Track and Field season at the UWI/Usain Bolt Track on February 4, 2012. UWI Athlete and World University Games 110m Hurdles Champion, Hansle Parchment opened his season with 48.85 in the 400m. The Department looks forward to continued excellence and improvement from Parchment as he burns up the track throughout the 2012 season. Young Potential and UWI 1st Year Scholarship Athlete, Nicholas Maitland, also opened his season with an impressive 47.37s in the 400m. During an interview with the Mona Sports TV, Maitland stated that "his aim for this season is to make the Jamaica Olympic team.” UWI Mona always encourages athletes to strive for the best and we wish the UWI Pelican all the best for the rest of the season.

The team will continue their season at the Milo Relays in Montego Bay on Saturday February 11,2012.
