The UWI Mona Pelicans female basketball team defeated GC Foster College on Saturday, March 10, 2012. In what was described as a nail biting encounter to the finish, the Mona Pelicans snatched victory to win the match, at 35-34. Dannyelle Long walked away as the top goal scorer for the Mona Pelicans. Coach Ronald Beckford was highly optimistic of the win. The Pelicans will seek to soar higher as they take on GC Foster tomorrow, March 13, 2011 in the return leg of the Intercollegiate Basketball Competition, match time 6pm. A win for the Mona Pelicans would mean a ticket into the finals for a chance to win the championship.
