UWI 'sweep' Kensington to charge into semi-finals action in the Jamaica Cricket Association Junior Cup Trophy Competition

The University of the West Indies Mona Cricket team under the tutelage of Coach Robert Samuels defeated Kensington Cricket Club by 200 runs in the Jamaica Cricket Association Junior Cup Trophy Competition over the weekend. The Pelicans at the end of their innings, led by batting sensations Sheldon Samules-100 and Desmond Jones 82 not out set a whopping 253 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Kensington,in their reply was bowled out for 53 runs courtesy of off-spin bowler Mario Grant's 4 wickets for eight runs. The victory cemented the team's slot in the semi-finals. Team manager Travis Reid believes "the team has been dominant, we have been winning all matches and we have been winning convincingly. On that basis, in this zone UWI is the top team." The Pelicans will next face Kingston Cricket Club at the Frank Worrell Cricket Ground, UWI, in their semi-final encounter scheduled for next weekend.
